The strategies that have driven our community for the last 30 years will be insufficient to drive our community in the next 30 years.    Brown County must prepare itself now for tomorrow's challenges.   If we fail to plan, we plan to fail.   I will bring innovative problem-based solutions to tackle the communities most pressing challenges--and do so in a way that does not lose the character and uniqueness of Brown County.

 ISSUES THAT MATTER

HOUSING
Attainable housing is critical for families to relocate to Brown County.   Demographic changes, both locally and nationally, will make it increasingly difficult for our community to rely on outdated strategies to attract new residents.    We must be innovative and adopt new ideas to attract residents.   That will require the creation of housing that is attainable-priced and respects the character and culture of the community.

My Priorities:
1. Create the Brown County Community Investment Corporation
2.  Seek out Grant Funding for redevelopment of residential properties
3.  Facilitate the creation of attainably priced homes for first time homebuyers

PRESERVING AND PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT
Brown County is the emerald jewel of Indiana.    People come to our community because of its wild and untamed nature.  Strategically managing how the county is developed will ensure that we respect the past and the character of the community.   Development for the sake of development is unwise and changes the vibe of the community.

My Priorities:
1. Long-Term Strategic Economic Vision
2. Detailed and Comprehensive Planning Vision
3. Strategic Use and Development of available land

DIVERSITY
Our community is made stronger by its diversity, and Justin is committed to promoting inclusivity and equality for all. He will work to create a more welcoming and inclusive community for people of all races, ethnicities, religions, genders, and sexual orientations.

My Priority:
1. Create and pass a Declaration of Human Rights that mirrors the Town of Nashville
2. Support the efforts of other community organizations and groups to educate and advance their goals and activities
BUSINESS
Tourism is, and will continue to be, a core economic driver in Brown County.   However, strategically supporting a more diverse set of economic activities with low geographic impact and high economic value will be important to the future economy.   Said more plainly, Brown

County will never be able to compete with surrounding communities in manufacturing--nor should we as it would not respect our community culture.   Instead, we have the opportunity to support the economic activities of a new generation of American workers who are accountants, web designers, graphic designers, and other jobs that are not tied to a specific location.

My Priorities:

1.  Partner with universities to attract new graduates to the community

2. Develop incentives that attract entrepreneurs to start businesses in the area:  ex.  Artists, Chefs, Business people

3. Long-Term Goal:  Look for opportunities to develop innovation centers that attract people with intellectual capital into the community and are willing to base operations here

4. Market Brown County as a place where your employees can enjoy a fantastic quality of life while working in a unique environment.

ORV Ordinance:
An avid outdoorsman and proud owner of a Polaris Ranger Side-by-side, Justin broadly supports the new ORV Ordinance for the county.  ORV use on county roads in rural locations is increasingly becoming acceptable in locations around Indiana and the nation.  Justin is concerned with the curvy and narrow roads and aware that irresponsible use of our roads by tourists may become an issue.  However, the potential for misuse by bad actors should not prevent locals from taking advantage of the ability.   If elected, Justin would prioritize watching carefully for misuse and evaluating the success or failure of the ordinance.   While reversing the ordinance must always be an option in the case of misuse, good governance requires that a new administration does not simply reverse actions out of spite.  While supportive, Justin will take a watch and observe position before taking any action.
